Expanding our Reach with Realtor.com

July 23, 2020 — Written by Tom Willerer

We started Opendoor with a simple idea: give home buyers and sellers the freedom to move on their own terms with convenience and certainty. We’ve created a digital experience that removes the hassles and headaches of buying and selling a home because we know consumers would rather focus on the next chapter of their life than the stresses of moving. Today, we’re extending the promise of choice and convenience to even more people. We’re announcing a partnership with Realtor.com that provides millions of homeowners with a fully digital option to sell their home.

Now, when a homeowner visits Realtor.com to start their selling journey, they can request an offer from Opendoor as an alternative to selling their home on the open market. If Opendoor is buying homes in the area and if their home is eligible, the home seller can receive an all-cash offer from Opendoor and skip the inconvenience of home repairs, showings and the chance of a buyer’s financing falling through. The entire transaction is fully-digital and contact-free— from offer, to inspection, to closing.

Buyers and sellers have a need and desire to move, but safety is a top concern—and it’s driving increased demand for more online and digital experiences. According to a NAR survey, over two-thirds of its members see demand for virtual solutions increasing. And nearly 30% had at least one client who put an offer on a home without seeing it in person. The future of real estate will be largely digital. It’s why we’ve been building an end-to-end digital real estate experience that provides choice and convenience to all home buyers and sellers.

Realtor.com customers in Phoenix, Tucson, Raleigh-Durham, Dallas Fort-Worth, Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte can now request an Opendoor offer with additional cities coming in the weeks and months ahead. We’re looking forward to working with Realtor.com to provide a fully digital, safe and hassle-free selling experience for even more homeowners.
