Our mission at Opendoor is to empower everyone with the freedom to move. Every day, we see homeowners in markets where we don’t yet operate coming to our website and entering their email addresses to be the first to know when Opendoor comes to town. This is a constant reminder that the convenience, certainty and control that we provide can be valuable to buyers and sellers nationwide, which is why we’re excited to announce that we’ll be launching three more cities in the coming months: Salt Lake City, Boise, and St. Louis.
Starting later this year, homeowners in Salt Lake City and Boise will have the ability to sell their homes directly to Opendoor for a competitive price, skipping the hassle and uncertainty that comes with open houses, showings and listing on the market. We’ll then further expand to St. Louis in early 2020.
With each launch, local homeowners will be able to get a free, no obligation offer on eligible homes within 24 hours and close on a timeline that works for them. After Opendoor purchases a home, we then take ownership of it and handle any necessary repairs before we relist the home and find the next buyer.
Prospective buyers will also benefit from the simplicity that Opendoor provides, thanks to our tech-enabled home shopping experience. The Opendoor app serves as a key, allowing buyers to unlock and tour any Opendoor home in-person from 6am-9pm, seven days a week. No appointment necessary.
We recently hit a major milestone here at Opendoor: we’ve helped more than 50,000 customers buy or sell homes on their timeline, giving them back many hours of time and allowing them to move on to their next chapter, hassle-free.
Beyond bringing this world-class experience to the current and future residents of Salt Lake City, Boise, and St. Louis, we also look forward to becoming an integral part of the local agent and small business community. We work with real estate agents every day, and paid more than $50M in commissions and referral fees to other brokerages last year. Similarly, we partner with local contractors and tradespeople as we prepare and relist our homes, infusing millions of dollars into the local economy.
